Talent manager Asa Asika has likened singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to the President of Nigeria, citing the singer’s level of influence and reach.
Asika made the remark during a recent episode of The Manager’s Playbook podcast hosted by Mauricio Ruiz, where he discussed Davido’s impact in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to the talent manager, Davido’s massive following across social media platforms is one of the clearest indicators of his influence.
Asika said he often jokes with the singer about having influence comparable to that of the country’s president.
“I say to him all the time, ‘You do know you’re kinda like the President of Nigeria?’” he said.
He described Davido as one of the most influential Nigerians under 40, noting that the singer remains among the most-followed Nigerian artists across major social media platforms.
Asika also argued that Davido’s ability to remain relevant despite facing several controversies demonstrated the strength of his public influence.
“Some of the things that I have seen Davido do, if someone else did that, they would never ever get back from it,” he said.
The talent manager further described Davido as a “walking billboard,” saying brands are eager to associate with the singer.
“Every brand wants to associate with him. We haven’t paid for a music video with our own money in ages,” Asika added.Talent manager Asa Asika has likened singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, to the President of Nigeria, citing the singer’s level of influence and reach.
